JULIE PELAEZ: Mixed Media Abstract Artist

 A deeply personal collection, Julie writes: 

"Art meets poetry as words dominate the canvas, through paint, embroidery and yarn. The abstract backgrounds are messy, energetic, and passionate, just like the thoughts I hope they spark. 

"After observing myself on an endless search of books, podcasts in the self development realm where the focus was external, I turned inward to let my own voice be the guide. The result was and outpouring of unfiltered thoughts, desires, ways of being that I subscribe to; like conversations with my future self. This collection was something that had to come out of me. " 

The “Constructs of the Mind” Collection was born out of studies in mindfulness. From theories of meditation, to conscious awareness, each mixed media artwork utilizes layered, dimensional techniques to symbolize different “aha” moments from these life-changing perspectives. 

Julie has successfully completed commissions around the country for Hospitality and Corporate projects. Pictured here is an installation of paintings on plexiglass, at ERS of Austin.  "hoMEostasis", with an emphasis on "ME", is a collection encouraging you to source balance, calm and centeredness from within. No matter what may be going on in the world around us, the ability to self-regulate and channel our inner zen is fully within our control and accessible at any time.

Gradations take on the form of calibrations, moving in and out to offset each other in a search for balance. The speckled raw canvas brings an element of earthiness and grounding. Each artwork is wired to hang either vertically or horizontally.

The moment we can move from victim to empowerment, from defensiveness to openness, we can get out of our own way and move towards inspired action. This "just do it" mentality shift sets off a chain reaction, like opening an internal floodgate towards healing. We are all the gatekeepers to our own healing. It's time to let the doors fly open.

Visually, color gradients symbolize an internal transition – a shift into surrender, which becomes the catalyst for an opening. Old patterns and stories populate the draped paper, falling away as it gives way for the new expansive energy.
