Artist Statement
Long exposures create striking striations of light through her lens as Lena Rudnick delicately manipulates her camera to create painterly dreamscapes that invite you into her emotional world. Pinpointing specific moments of time and place - like the morning she spread her mother’s ashes - the artist explores how memories blend, colored by our emotions and shaped by the passage of time.
While HELIO ROMANTICA's photos are constructed entirely in-camera, the artist closely shapes her work in the digital dark room, highlighting the interplay between painting and photography in her playfully impressionistic images. These tender abstract ethereal landscapes embody a profound collaboration between the artist and the natural world as Lena seeks to capture moments of awe as she experiences them.
